In 2004 the Greater Cedar Rapids Area HBA set up a scholarship fund through the Kirkwood Foundation. Our goal was to raise $100,000 within five year to create a self-sustaining Scholarship Fund. At the start of the final quarter of 2007 we hit that goal and over a year early! These scholarships are available for one or more students in the Industrial Technologies programs at Kirkwood each year.

PURPOSE: To provide scholarship funds to students pursuing a career in the home building industry and related trades.
WHO QUALIFIES: Any student pursuing a career in the home building industry and related trades including immediate family members of the HBA of Iowa (builder or associate members). The fund is dedicated but not limited to college age students between the ages of 18 - 25 years.
AMOUNT OF SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS: The scholarship award shall be up to $1000.00 per selected applicant. Multiple applicants are chosen each year to receive scholarships. Funds will be paid directly to the educational institution in the name of both the student and the school.
SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS COMMITTEE: Shall consist of a Board of Trustees of the HBA of Iowa Education Corporation and the HBA of Iowa Executive Officer shall serve as a non-voting member. The decision of the HBAI EC Scholarship Awards committee shall be final.
HOW TO APPLY: Applicants must submit the official application form and written essays to the HBAI Education Corporation scholarship awards committee. Applications will be received by the HBAI EC Scholarship Committee until February 15 of each year. Scholarship awards will be presented by the President of the HBAI at a local HBA general membership meeting or school awards ceremony by May 31st of each year. Scholarships are a one time award and students are eligible to apply and receive funding in successive years.
